And now for something entirely different!
A few years ago I did a solo trek in Yosemite’s backcountry to the high alpine basin of Ten Lakes. I spent a long summer day being entirely mesmerized by a stream descending from a mountain lake. I felt completely immersed in the landscape as sometimes happens when I am alone in nature. I wondered how I might communicate this feeling of immersion during which time becomes elastic, sometimes moving very slowly and sometimes leaping forward in the blink of an eye.
I followed the stream from its source, using a tiny GoPro camera to capture the feeling, both above and below water. I hiked home the next day, put away the footage, and forgot about it. This past week I found it. I have been learning a new editing system software, and the clips were the perfect raw material to practice on. Here is the result. The music is from “The Vigil” by David Nevue. Enjoy.

November 11, 2019 at 1:13 amJust saw this and yes, it is mesmerizing. SO glad you put it out to share. The colors, sounds, light scattering and reflecting everywhere – the most perfect example of transience that is at the same time eternal. A deep metaphor!
